Commute without a penny!

The best thing about getting around in Macau is that there are many popular Casinos’ free shuttle buses criss-crossing all over the island. These buses touch almost all the major tourist spots here. Most hotels, big or small also provide free shuttle service to their hotel both from Airport Terminal and Ferry Bus Terminal. Simply board a free shuttle bus belonging to any hotel or casino that will take you to your nearest place of interest, alight at the stop then walk to your destination and you don’t have to pay a single penny! No one will bother to ask you a question. However, choose a “popular” hotel/casino’s shuttle service because the bus drivers of some of the smaller hotels may want to see your hotel voucher before letting you in. Now if your prestige and self-esteem come in the way, just forget this tip; if not then read below.

Note: Most Macau tourists do this. Its a popular culture when you are travelling in Macau.

Macau Casino

Say for example, you want to go to the City of Dreams, simply board any of the buses of The Venetian or the City of Dreams or Galaxy. All these are located close to one another on the Taipa side of Macau.

The Venetian operates free shuttle buses to Border Gate, Macau Ferry Terminal (for Turbojet) and Taipa Ferry Terminal (for Cotai Jet).

Public Transports

Public buses and minibuses run from 6:45 a.m. to 12 midnight. The fare usually ranges from 2.8 MOP to 6.4 MOP per journey depending on the routes – within the city or outside the city center. There are buses (Route 3, 3A, 10, 12, 23, 28C & 32) that provide regular service between the city and the piers for incoming or outgoing visitors.

Assuming that you are staying at The Venetian, if you want to go to The Ruins of St. Paul’s Cathedral, here are a few ways how you can do it without having to spend a penny:

Take the Venetian bus to the Inner Harbour and walk until you see the Black and Beige mosaic of Senado Square, keep walking along the stone paved road of a bustling market area while following the signs, (they are in English) and you will reach St. Paul’s Ruins.

Taxis are easy to hail. Just find a nearest taxi stand and hail a taxi to go to your desired location. They are fast and convenient if you are on time crunch.

    1. I’m so sorry for the late reply, Lynne. Both St. Paul’s ruins and A’Ma Temple would be closed by then. But Macau is known for its casinos, which ofcourse will entertain guests well past midnight 😊
